PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

PLANNING FOR THE PROCEDURE

You must have a driver who is 18 years or older present at check in and discharge.

If you do not have a driver with you at check in, we will reschedule your appointment.

This person must remain in the unit during your entire visit, to be available as soon as

you are ready to be discharged.

You will NOT be released to take public transportation (bus, taxicab, etc.).

You will NOT be released to walk home without another responsible adult present to accompany you.

DURATION

The entire procedure appointment may take up from 3 to 4 hours.

Please advise your driver that they will need to remain in the facility at all times.

7-DAYS PRIOR TO PROCEDURE

7 days before your procedure you will receive a phone reminder confirming your appointment.

If you CANNOT keep your appointment, please provide a 72-hour cancellation notice.

5-DAYS PRIOR TO PROCEDURE

Please read all directions carefully.

If you are taking BLOOD THINNERS such as: Coumadin or Plavix: discuss with your

doctor whether you should stop these medications FOUR days prior to procedure.

If you CANNOT stop these medications four days prior to procedure, please contact our office to discuss with a triage nurse.

STOP taking: Iron pills, fish oil, Metamucil, Citrucel and any other bulk laxative FOUR days prior to procedure.

PROCEDURE DAY

DO NOT eat anything after 12:00 am the night BEFORE your procedure.

DO NOT drink anything including water 8 hours BEFORE your procedure time.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU FOR YOUR PROCEDURE

YOUR DRIVER: it is necessary to prove your transportation during check in and discharge.

Bring insurance card(s) and any co-payment required for procedure.

Please bring a list of ALL medications you are currently taking.

    INSTRUCCIONES DE PREPARACIÓN DE ENDOSCOPIA

    PREPARANDOSE PARA SU CIRUJIA

    • Debe tener un conductor que tenga 18 años de edad en el momento al registrarse y aser dado(a) de alta.
    • Si no tiene un conductor con usted al momento de registro se le reprograma su cita.
    • Su conductor debe permanecer en la unidad durante toda su visita, para estar disponible tan pronto como esté listo para ser dado de alta.
    • NO se le permitirá tomar el transporte público (autobús, taxi, etc.).
    • NO se le permitirá caminar a casa sin que otro adulto responsable esté presente para acompañarlo.

    DURACIÓN

    • Toda la cita del procedimiento puede durar de 3 a 4 horas.

    • Informe a su conductor que deberá permanecer en las instalaciones mientras este en cirugia.

    7-DÍAS ANTES DE SU CIRUJIA

    • 7 días antes de su cirujia, recibirá un recordatorio telefónico confirmando su cita.

    • Si NO PUEDE asistir a su cita, proporcione un aviso de cancelación de 72 horas de antemano.

    5-DÍAS ANTES DE SU CIRUJIA

    • Lea todas las instrucciones con cuidado.

    • Si está tomando DILUYENTES DE SANGRE como: Coumadin o Plavix: hable con su médico si debe suspender estos medicamentos CUATRO días antes del la cirujia.

    • Si NO PUEDE suspender estos medicamentos cuatro días antes de su cirujia, comuníquese con nuestra oficina para hablar con una enfermera.

    • DEJE de tomar: pastillas de hierro, aceite de pescado, Metamucil, Citrucel y cualquier otro laxante a granel CUATRO días antes del la cirujia.

    EL DIA DE LA CIRUJIA

    • NO coma nada después de las 12:00 am la noche ANTERIOR de su cirujia.

    • NO beba nada, ni siquiera agua, 8 horas ANTES de su cirugía.

    QUÉ LLEVAR EL DIA DE SU CIRUJIA

    • SU CONDUCTOR: es necesario comprovar su transportación durante su registro y al ser dado(a) de alta.

    • Traiga la (s) tarjeta (s) del seguro y cualquier copago requerido para el costo de la cirujia. • Por favor traiga una lista de TODOS los medicamentos que está tomando actualmente.
